Super-size it and hold the pot

One of my guilty pleasures is seeking out unhealthy fast-food after a night out on the town with my friends.   Heck, I'll take fast food anytime of the day, but a recent arrest in Edmond has me thinking twice about these late-night binges.

According to a recent article in the Oklahoman, Josh Mackey, 30, and his co-worker Mark Lowry, 32, were both arrested by an officer for smoking pot while working the late night shift at the Taco Bell on West Edmond Road.   A customer smelled the smoke while waiting for an order in the drive-thru.

When I saw this in the paper I shared it with the rest of the newsroom.  Some giggled.  Others just shook their head in disbelief.

Immediately I logged on to MySpace.com to see if either one of these guys had a profile page.   That may sound silly, but MySpace and other social sites have become a common tool to use when we need to find out more on a person.   I found Josh's profile.

I sent Josh a message and this is the response I got back today:

"prob to late to talk about it but in my view I shouldn't have been arrrested even the cop himself said he never arrested any1 with such a small amount in 11 yrs and even said it was so small he didnt think they could weigh it. But becuase it was Edmond and the fact I was working still I get arrested with a co-worker. I understand that the law are they way are and i shouldn't have been smoking at work but still yet things have really got to change in american society about the war on drugs cuase everyone know what the government been supposedly fighting against it for several years without any sight of success when most know that the government puts alot the drugs on the streets themselves. Or they only want us to take the drugs they get lobbied for in congress from the drug companies. You look at television any night of the week and you will see several ads for prescribed drugs which all the side effects you get from these make you even more sick then what it cures. "

I'm wondering if Josh thought about this when he was sitting in the back of the Edmond police car.
