Joshua and Christyn Byler and April and Kevin McCurdy are ready to take the Metro Fitness Challenge. After pouring through all the essay entries the Bylers and the McCurdys were chosen as NEWS 9's 2008 contestants.

Joshua and Christyn Byler met at Southern Nazarene University and have been married for two years.  They have two dogs that they enjoy treating like children.  April and Kevin McCurdy attended Choctaw high school together and have been married for six years.

For both couples this challenge is more than a contest, it is a life-saving step that they are taking in order to survive.  They have recognized early signs of several weight related diseases and know that through the Metro Fitness Challenge they will be able to set the much needed foundation for a healthy lifestyle.

Started in 2006, the Metro Fitness Challenge's goal is to help Oklahomans slim down.  During the challenge the couples consult with a registered dietitian, a physician and a personal trainer to formulate specific food and weight loss goals.

The Bylers and McCurdys also have one more motivator in common.  Stay with NEWS 9 as we reveal the number one reason why these couples are challenging each other.
