Woman blessed with a letter from an angel

Faith in God and the power of prayer are two things Connie Furhman said she's always believed in.

However, last month Connie's faith was tested during a personal tragedy, leaving her to wonder if God was listening. Connie got her answer in the form of a letter.

About a month ago, Connie got a call from her husband Pete.

"He said honey I'm going to check myself into the hospital, I feel like I'm having a heart attack," Connie said.

Pete was on his way to work, driving alone on the Kilpatrick Turnpike. Worried, Connie and her daughter went looking for Pete. But first, Connie stopped to pray.

"Just trembling, something just coming over me, and I said oh lord just send the comforter for him," Connie said.

Pete didn't make it to the hospital. And shortly after asking God for help, Connie got a call from Highway Patrol.

"He said I'm sorry to have to tell you this but your husband passed away," Connie said. "It seems like he was having some sort of medical condition and his truck hit the embankment."

For the next few days Connie wondered if God heard her prayer.

The night before Pete's funeral, Connie got an answer, when a letter with no return address and no name came in the mail.

"It was in a long white envelope and it was addressed to the family of Peter Fuhrman, and I just tore it open," Connie said.

The letter read:

Dear family and friends of Mr. Peter Fuhrman. I was one of the many commuters that stopped and tried to help. I hope it comforts you to know that there were many who cared and did all they could to help him hold on. A nurse from Baptist was there before myself, and we never left his side. I had a blanket in my car, and we covered him to keep him warm. I hope it comforts his loved ones to know, he took his last breaths with two nurses laying hands on him and saying the Lord 's Prayer. Although the people who stopped didn't know him, we all cared, and did our best. He was surrounded by love, the love of strangers and the love of God. I am a nurse. I was on my way to work at Mercy. But please know that my prayers and my thoughts are with you.

They simply sign it, someone who cares.

Still unsure who those caring nurses were, Connie is certain they were angels sent by God to answer her prayer.

"That he didn't die alone," Connie said. "That he took his last breath not alone, but with the love of strangers and the love of God. What more could I ask for?"

A month after Pete's funeral, Connie is asking God for one more thing. She is praying that he delivers her words of thanks to the Angels behind this letter.

"I know they don't want thanks, but I feel like I need to tell them know how much it means to me that my husband didn't die alone," Connie said.

Connie said her daughter actually drove to the accident scene the day Pete died.

The nurses had already left. Connie's daughter found Pete covered in a beautiful blanket left by one of the nurses.

Connie said that gesture makes her cry even now.

Because when she asked God for someone to comfort Pete she said the angels did so spiritually but also literally with that blanket.
