Austin, Texas -- Bargaining teams for AT&T Mobility and the Communications Workers of America union successfully completed an agreement on Monday, read a press release from AT&T.

After nearly a month of negotiations, a tentative agreement was reached Monday, the day the contract expired. The agreement includes increases in wages and pension bands as well as improvements in work rules.

The Communications Workers of America in District 6, a union that represents call center workers and retail employees for AT&T Mobility in five states, was seeking higher salaries and a lower turnover rate amongst its employees. Members from Kansas, Arkansas, Texas and Missouri are also included in the union.

The union's members voted earlier this week to go on strike if they didn't come to an agreement with AT&T by Sunday night, said a union spokesperson.
