Domestic disturbances similar to one that resulted in a deadly wreck on Wednesday are not uncommon, Oklahoma City Police said.

Edmond Grayson, 28, was killed when his truck flipped over after fleeing from police who were trying to pull him over for beating a female passenger.  Police call the incidents rolling domestics. They account for about 5 to 10 percent of domestic violence calls, police said.

Grayson flipped the truck and was hit by at least two other cars. The driver of a Volvo was taken to a hospital in fair condition. The female in the Grayson's truck was taken in critical condition.

Domestic violence complaints are the most dangerous calls they respond to and that doesn't change when it happens inside of a car.

"The person who may be a suspect all of sudden in control of a 2,500 pound vehicle in motion, so it can make for a very dangerous situation," Sgt. Paco Balderrama said.

Janet Peery, CEO of the YWCA, said some good did come out of this tragedy.

"I'm really very proud of whoever it was that called it in," she said. "What people don't realize is that takes courage as well."
