Winter weather continues in metro

Most of the light freezing drizzle and flurries ended in the state late Thursday afternoon, but there are still slick spots being reported on the bridges and overpasses. 

Hazardous driving conditions will continue into Friday morning for some roadways.  Extra caution should be used while traveling, especially on bridges and overpasses, say officials at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

Another round of light precipitation is expected Thursday night into Friday morning.  Light snow flurries will occur across the northern half of the state, with the highest accumulations possible across northwest Oklahoma.  Snow amounts up to an inch are possible there, with a dusting elsewhere.  Precipitation will end Friday morning as this winter storm system moves to our northeast.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation offered these tips to drivers:

* Stay at least 200 ft. behind road clearing equipment.
* Slow down and drive for the conditions on the roadway.
* Be particularly aware of black ice especially on bridges and ramps. Remember they will be the first to freeze.
* Bring a cell phone with emergency numbers - including a road side assistance number.
