MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- A 47-year-old Midwest City man was shot in the knee after he refused to give up his wallet Monday evening, police said.

The man pulled into his driveway at 1213 Tara Rd., about 8 p.m. when he was approached by a black man holding a handgun, police said.

The robber demanded his wallet and fired twice when the victim refused. The robber then shot the man in his upper right leg and fled without the wallet, police said.

Meanwhile, nearby a woman was robbed of her purse at gunpoint in the 9300 block of Orchard Blvd. at 8:30 p.m., police said. The robber was described as a black man.

The two incidents occurred less than two miles apart, but police were unsure if the crimes are related.

The shooting victim was listed in fair condition at a local hospital.
