Sen. Tom Coburn said Saturday he's not interested in a vice presidential nomination.
Speaking at a Town Hall meeting four days after returning from a visit to Iraq, Coburn reinforced his support for fellow Senator John McCain, but said he wants to focus on his work in the Senate.
"My goal is to change the culture of the senate," Coburn said. "I'm committed to what I'm doing and I'm obedient to what I think I'm called for."
Coburn said he doesn't agree with everything McCain supports, but said he is the best person for the presidency. Coburn worries that if Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton wins the election, then U.S. policy in Iraq would change, he said.
"I think there's two major problems facing this nation that all other problems pale in comparison," he said. "One is the battle with radical Islam and two is the financial future that we face if we don't have somebody strong to take on congress to correct it."
