Lawmakers strive to solve prison crisis

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma lawmakers will work to solve the crisis in Oklahoma prisons during this year's legislative session.

State Prison Director Justin Jones says he will ask for $28 million to pay for private prison cells and another $90 million to pay for more beds and an updated computer system.

Lawmakers say they're looking at the results of the comprehensive prison audit that came out last month.
The report showed that Oklahoma prisons are dangerously old and underfunded.
