Floodwaters buried land in northeastern Australia Monday as families fled to higher ground.
Emergency workers carried out helicopter evacuations near Emerald.
The water was so high at points, the water level reached up to people's necks.
The Queensland area has been hard hit by drought in recent years. Farmers said they needed the rain, but this deluge has cost them millions of dollars in lost crops and stock.
