Five people were killed in four separate traffic collisions over the weekend in Oklahoma.

Two were killed in crashes in Wellston and Lexington and two Elk City women died in a head-on collision on Interstate 40. And a Lawton man was also killed in a traffic crash in Comanche County.

The Elk City women were driving the wrong way on the interstate when they struck a freightliner. Elaina Pack, 27, and Deborah Ault, 52, were both pronounced dead at the scene. There was no word on why the women were travelling the wrong way on the interstate.

Kerman Wahpekeche of Mcloud was riding in the passenger seat when the car he was riding hit an embankment and rolled over. The 23-year-old was ejected from the car and also pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Sylvia Garcia, is in critical condition at a local hospital. An investigation is pending on why the car hit the embankment.
