Police are warning people to not leave their cars running while unattended.

Recently thieves have been taking at least 5 cars a day. Drivers give the thieves easy access by leaving their cars running to warm up in the morning or while they run into a convenience store.

"You don't want to go through the hassle of getting your car stolen," Police Sgt. Paco Balderrama said.

If your car is stolen, police say it's a good idea to know your tag number when filing an official report. That information goes into a system so they'll know who the car belongs to if it gets pulled over.
