Center offers classes for volunteer firefighters

Volunteer firefighters in Canadian County are spending their weekends in the classroom.

Thanks to state funding-- these firefighters are getting their training for free.

It's an experience many of the firefighters never received.

"It's a pretty in depth course that they are receiving and it is hands on as well as theory provided by the full-time instructors at the Mustang Fire Department," said Tom Durante, Technology Center safety coordinator.

The Canadian Valley Technology Center offers the 30-hour course at both the El Reno and Chickasha campuses.
