A taskforce is expected to deliver a report to the governor next week on how to make Oklahoma college campuses safer.
Governor Brad Henry created the Campus Life and Safety and Security Task Force after the Virginia Tech massacre last April.
Now the task force has found state colleges spend about $24.7 million dollars on safety and security. It recommends that amount be increased to about $40 million.
The extra funds could be used to hire more licensed professional counselors, among other things.
The campus security report will be delivered to the governor's desk next week.
