Anticipating the bowl

Well, as my last of six bowl games begin, we were on the road again. I have been to the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl, Holiday Bowl, and Fiesta Bowl, but this year has definitely been the busiest and most rewarding ...

It has been a few days since I last wrote an entry, but I still wanted to write about what we have been doing. We are having a great time together - I love the time I get to spend with my friends and the memories we get to make!

We marched in the Fiesta Bowl/Insight Bowl Parade on Saturday, which was fun to see other bands and many interesting floats. It made me think about how many parades we have marched in this year, and through them, how many people we have made happy.

I really believe that we, as the Pride, have the ability to make so many people's days brighter, and that is part of the reason why I have loved being in the Pride. On Saturday night, we rehearsed on a high school football field with beautiful scenery! There were mountains all around us as we watched the sunset over the horizon. It was so beautiful - the sky was so vibrantly red!

After rehearsal, they took us to another area of Phoenix, Ridge Park Mall. Some of us returning members were glad to see a different part of the area.

On Sunday, some opted to attend a church service of their choice, while others slept in. I chose to sleep in and have a little free time since this rarely occurs on any band trips, especially bowl trips. We have a very full schedule still, but I was very thankful for the extra free time. We headed to rehearsal in the afternoon, and then back to Scottsdale for the evening. Some of my friends and I decided to go to Buca de Beppos, which was amazing! We loved the atmosphere and the family style dining experience. We then headed for dessert at the local Sugar Bowl that had the feeling of an old pink diner. When we got back to the hotel, we ended our evening with some orange picking from the nearby orange trees. The oranges don't taste good at all, but it was fun to be able to pick them from actual trees.

And now today, we had another morning of free time, and then we're off to rehearsal, and then to the New Year's Eve block party. We will have another fun day counting down until the Fiesta Bowl!

Well, as my last of six bowl games begin, we were on the road again. I have been to the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl, Holiday Bowl, and Fiesta Bowl, but this year has definitely been the busiest and most rewarding for all of our hard work!

We have participated in many centennial events, parades, and most importantly, our big trip to New York City for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! It was an incredible trip and I was so glad to have been able to go.

We were all so glad to arrive at the hotel this afternoon after a long bus trip that began yesterday at 3 p.m. We endured a long night on the bus, and are glad to have our own space again. We watched several movies, as usual, and also fought over which ones to watch, just like any other family.

I must admit, I do somewhat enjoy the bus ride since it gives us a chance to truly get to know each other, whether or not we want to! :) We stopped in Tucson for "brunch", where my uncle who I haven't seen in a couple of years was able to meet us.

Everywhere, there is always someone that knows one of us, which makes being part of such a large group so special. I was so glad to get to visit with my uncle for a little while before we had to hop back on the bus for the final leg of our journey to Scottsdale. Though some of us more "seasoned" veterans have been here, I am sure that we will discover and revisit many of the interesting local venues. I know for sure that this final trip with the Pride will be a memorable one...
