Arson may be to blame for a fire that killed three cats at a northwest Oklahoma City animal clinic Friday, authorities said.

Seven dogs survived the blaze at Shamrock Animal Hospital, 2847 NW 57.

Heavy smoke was billowing from the one-story structure when firefighters arrived about 5 p.m.

Police arrested clinic veterinarian Warren Schilb for allegedly interferring with a fire scene.

"We assigned half our crews to try to evacuate any animals or humans that were at the clinic," said Oklahoma City Fire Battalion Chief Mike Kelley.

The blaze is still under investigation, fire officials said.
