A suspected purse thief is behind bars tonight, all because of the actions of an alert citizen.

Moore police arrested 25 year-old Louis Rentfro on Christmas Eve. They say he stole a woman's purse in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Laura McCartney heard the victim's cry for help and followed the thief in her car. He crashed just a block from the Moore police department.

"Upon search of the suspect's vehicle the purse that was stolen from our victim here in Moore was in the vehicle and several other items that were stolen," Sgt. Todd Strickland of the Moore Police Department said.

Police believe Rentfro may be responsible for other purse snatchings including a violent attack at Penn Square Mall.
