Memorial Marathon weekend is underway, and the Health and Fitness Expo kicked off Friday. Runners are picking up their race packets ahead of the big weekend.
More than 25,000 people are participating in events this year.
News 9’s Jennifer Pierce was at the convention center as runners prepared for the race.
Due to the weather, race times for Saturday's events have been pushed back.
Race analyst and trainer, Mark Bravo, says not to let this time change throw you off.
"Relax, it's going to be a longer pregame ... eat normally at the amount of time before you would race in the morning," he said. "Just think about living your normal life with, interspersed, a little mid-day effort.
The later start time will also allow more runners to sleep in later.
"This race, and this weekend, is about so much more than running," said Bravo.
Jennifer Pierce has been on staff with News 9 since 2017. She’s an Emmy Award-winning reporter often covering crime in the metro and court cases. A proud member of the Choctaw Nation and a member of the Indigenous Journalists Association, Jennifer also enjoys telling the stories of Native Americans in Oklahoma.
