News9’s Karl Torp and Amanda Taylor will be kicking off the festival at News9’s “Creation Station”, a collaborative structure where visitors of all ages can create a larger-than-life work that varies everyday of the festival as you add your unique flower to this year’s hanging garden display.
Festival Organizers say visitors will be able to enjoy arts from all different mediums, ranging from visual, performance and culinary, all produced and made available by established and emerging artists from Oklahoma and across the United States.
The Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch featuring Addie Crawford spoke with Arts Council Oklahoma City Executive Director Angela Cozby about what's new for this year's fest.
"What I'm really thrilled about is the new Creators Collective," Cozby said. "It's going to be an elevated farmer's market type experience that's all curated with close to 20 vendors."
Cozby explained how the festival is always a community focused and driven event. "We have over 2000 volunteers help us set it up," she said. "They're celebrating art, performing arts. Of course there's new food vendors out of the 32 we have on site as well."
Along with food and fun, visitors will be able to support more than just an artists booth - the festival will also be hosting its 58th annual Angels & Friends Celebration fundraiser, A Youth Art Sale and a Creators Collective showcasing handmade goods.
The festival has been an OKC tradition since 1967, considered a rite of spring and the Arts Council of Oklahoma City’s signature event. The festival showcases art from over 144 artists, musical and dance performances, and the best food Oklahoma City has to offer.
