State agencies are beginning to make their requests to state lawmakers for the 2026 fiscal year.
Total Agency: $13.4 billion
Total FY-2026 request tops out at $13.4 billion. That is broken down into 10 appropriations and budget subcommittees: education, finance, general government, human services, judiciary, natural resources, public health, public safety, transportation, and miscellaneous/ supplemental requests.
The total FY-2025 appropriation was $12.48 billion. There is a 7.38% change, or a $921.31 million change from 2025 to 2026.
Education: $6.19 billion
The total education request for 2026 is $6.19 billion. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $5.6 billion. There is a 10.62% change, or a $594.3 million change from 2025 to 2026
The State Department of Education has requested $92.47 million dollars, a 2% change from 2025.
All other agencies within the education sphere have requested between 1% - 71% in additional funding, except for the Statewide Charter School Board, which kept a flat budget, and the Board of Private Vocational Schools, which requested 18% less than 2025.
Finance: $34.17 million
The total finance request for 2026 is $34.17 million. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $35.17 million. There is a -2.84% change, or a $1 million change from 2025 to 2026.
The Oklahoma Broadband office kept a flat budget, while the Oklahoma Tax Commission requested $1 million less for 2026.
General Government: $392.22 million
The total general government request for 2026 is $392.22 million. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $320.78 million. There is a 22.27% change, or a $71.44 million change from 2025 to 2026.
Most agencies kept a flat budget, while the Ethics Commission asked for 8% less in 2026, and the Office of Management and Enterprise Services requested 23% more.
The largest increase in requests for 2026 was from the State Election Board, asking for $36.29 million, a 290% increase from 2025.
Human Services: $1 billion
The total human services request for 2026 is $1 billion. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $951.33 million. There is a 5.24% change, or a $49.81 million change from 2025 to 2026.
All agencies asked for an increase between 3% and 47%, except for the Office of Disability Concerns which kept a flat budget.
Judiciary: $400.99 million
The total judiciary request for 2026 is $400.99 million. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $273.98 million. There is a 46.36% change, or a $127.01 million change from 2025 to 2026.
The Attorney General asked for 204% more money, a total request of $93.90 million.
All other agencies in the judiciary sphere requested between 11% and 38% more, except for the Pardon and Parole Board, which kept a flat budget request.
Natural Resources: $649.54 million
The total natural resources request for 2026 is $649.54 million. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $314.07 million. There is a 106.82% change, or a $335.47 million change from 2025 to 2026.
The OSU Veterinary Medical Authority is asking for 779% more money in 2026, a total of $305.75 million.
All other agencies are asking for an increase between 3% and 64%, except for the Department of Environmental Quality which requested 40% less, and the Department of Labor which kept a flat budget.
Public Health: $2.92 billion
The total public health request for 2026 is $2.92 billion. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $2.23 billion. There is a 31.17% change, or a $693.64 million change from 2025 to 2026.
The University Hospital Authority asked for 98% more and the OSU Medical Authority asked for 94% more.
All other agencies are asking for an increase between 2% and 55%, except for the Medical Marijuana Authority who requested 2% less, and the J.D. McCarty Center for Children kept a flat budget.
Public Safety: $791.42 million
The total public safety request for 2026 is $791.42 million. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $745.72 million. There is a 6.13% change, or a $45.7 million change from 2025 to 2026.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs is asking for an 890% increase in funds for 2026, requesting a total of $28 million.
All other agencies are requesting between 1% and 22% in extra funding for 2026, except for the Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission, who kept a flat budget.
Transportation: $873.14 million
The total transportation request for 2026 is $873.14 million. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $909.24 million. There is a -3.97% change, or a $36.1 million change from 2025 to 2026.
The Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority is requesting a 3122% increase, a total of $28.1 million.
The Department of Transportation requests 1% less for 2026, and the Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics requests 76% less in 2026.
MISC/Supplemental: $144.08 million
The total miscellaneous/supplemental request for 2026 is $144.08 million. The total FY-2025 appropriation was $1.1 billion. There is a -86.94% change, or a $958.97 million change from 2025 to 2026.
The Interstate Oil Compact, Multiple Injury Trust Fund, and Non-base appropriations will no longer be funded in 2026, largely decreasing the overall funding request.

State lawmakers will begin going through agency requests when session begins on Feb. 3 and will finalize their budget before May 30.
