Gusty north winds at 15 to 25 mph will continue to bring cooler weather across northern Oklahoma this morning through the afternoon. Morning lows are starting in the lower 30s.
Daytime highs will remain below normal, in the mid-40s. Wind chill values will drop into the 20s this morning and the lower to mid-30s through the afternoon. A sunshine-cloud mix is likely.
Light winds, mostly clear sky, and dry air will allow temperatures to drop into the upper 20s and lower 30s by early Wednesday morning.
As our next system develops to the west, south winds will return on Wednesday at 5 to 12 mph, with sunshine and afternoon highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
An upper-level wave developing across the West Coast will move from the west to east on Thursday night and Friday.
A surface area of low pressure developing across the Panhandle will cause the return of gusty south winds on Thursday and Friday at 15 to 30 mph.
Increasing low-level moisture will bring morning lows back into the mid-40s Friday morning with daytime highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Late Friday night and early Saturday morning, there is a slight chance for a few showers along with a rumble of thunder, mostly along and east of Highway 69.
The highest chance will occur in far southeastern Oklahoma into western Arkansas. As the system exits the area early Saturday, a warming trend (above normal highs) will be likely this weekend and into several days next week.
Weekend morning lows will be in the 30s, with daytime highs in the mid to upper 50s on Saturday and nearing 60° on Sunday.
A series of stronger disturbances will be nearing the state next week, including Monday and by the middle of next week. Both will offer some precipitation chances.
The first features mostly a low-end chance for the eastern third of the region for showers and storms, but the second disturbance nearing midweek appears to bring higher chances for a larger portion of the state.
