We all love our furry friends, but sadly for some families that are struggling financially, they have to choose between feeding their pets or feeding themselves.

“My pets mean everything to me, they’re the most important thing in my life, like you said, I’ll feed them before I’ll feed me,” dog owner, Robert Long, said.

It’s tough times right now for many Oklahomans.

“Me and Grant were talking about how we could help the community, because I was struggling to pay for dog food,” Morgan Tepsic, founder of Peppy’s Pantry, said.

After losing his dad and his job within two months Tepsic found himself in a financial and emotional slump.

“I don’t consider myself well off, but I knew that if I was struggling, there was a community out there that could really use this help,” Tepsic said.

Tepsic and his good friend Grant Towler started a nonprofit, to deliver free dog food to those that need it, no judgment and no questions asked.

“We both work full time jobs, I work two jobs, and we deliver every spare chance that we can,” Tepsic said.

It’s called Peppy’s Pantry, named after their dog Peppy, and to say it is having an impact would be an understatement.

“He was really little when we got him, you could hold him in your hand, and now he’s, look at how he’s grown,” Blaine Collett, who receives dog food from Peppey’s Pantry, said.

Peppy’s Pantry is keeping pets in loving homes and out of shelters.

“It’s just hard sometimes, paying all the bills and paying for the dog food, they’ve really helped out a lot,” Long said.

“Living on a fixed income is kind of hard, and there are both emotional dogs to me,” Nely Garcia said, who also receives dog food from Peppy’s Pantry.

All made possible through the efforts of two friends and the generous donations of Oklahomans.

“Last year in May of 2022, we received our first dog food donation and since then we have delivered over ten thousand pounds to local dogs in Oklahoma City,” Tepsic said.

“Here at Peppy’s we see a future in Oklahoma where no dog is going hungry tonight,” Tepsic said.

For every family that they help, the guys see the need to do more. If you’re in need of dog food for your dog or want to support the nonprofit, visit their website www.peppyspantry.com.
