A Cleveland County man is arrested for theft after he invited deputies into his home. Deputies said he tried to prove his innocence, but now he's in a lot of trouble.

The deputies went to Carl Lancaster's home in search of his wanted friend, he let them in to prove that friend wasn't there. Deputies instead saw three guns in plain view, illegal for a person with previous felony convictions.

"While they were there, they found a bunch of ammunition that day. He asked to leave the residences at that time because they didn't have a warrant," Cleveland County Lieutenant John Szymanski said

Court papers show on the first visit out, Lancaster showed signs that he had things he didn't want deputies to see. Those documents said Lancaster showed "deceptive behavior" and would shut and lock doors and gates to keep them out of certain areas. Deputies arrested Lancaster that day and returned four days later with a warrant to search the home and property.

"We were looking for more firearms, ammunition that we had seen," Lt. Szymanski said.

They found some gun holsters and more ammunition, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The next thing deputies found was a safe.

"Inside the safe was approximately a half a pound of methamphetamine or just a little bit over and approximately 4 ounces of psychedelic mushrooms," Lt. Szymanski said.

Police also found materials used in cock fighting as well. Then deputies branched out to search the yard of rundown vehicles.

"We located approximately four stolen vehicles; along with trailers, heavy work equipment, skid steers, cement mixers," said Lt. Szymanski.

The suspected stolen items add up to over $100K.," Lt. Szymanski said some of them were stolen as long as 5 years ago. One stolen truck even got to return home.

"Including a lot of construction equipment and that gentleman lived about 5 miles from that location and he came yesterday to recover it. He was very thankful and appreciative," Lt. Szymanski said.

Lancaster's expected to face drug and stolen property charges on top of the current felon in possession of a firearms charge. Deputies also arrested the original person they were looking for.
