What To Expect From OKC Tourism In 2022

In 2021, Oklahoma City welcomed the new convention center, the Omni Hotel, the First Americans Museum and expanded the Will Rogers World Airport. As we begin 2022, there’s a lot of growing to look forward to.

 “We are going to open up a ten-story Renaissance hotel in Bricktown, finally open the First National Center, which includes multiple dining outlets and boutique hotel, and at the end of the year, we are going to open up more green space,” said Zac Craig, President of OKC Convention and Visitors Bureau. 

Right now, Oklahoma City sits at the lowest unemployment number, 1.7%, in the city's history.

We're also seeing a testament to the ever-changing landscape that brings in the tourist. 

“We bring in 8 million visitors, and we support over 20,000 jobs,” said Craig. 

January 1st kicked off the city’s first event, First Day Hike. 

“It was a little chilly this weekend, but it was exciting to see so many people out and about in our brand-new green space,” said Craig. 

But if you missed out on going hiking, there are more events this month you can enjoy. 

“If you haven’t gone down to snow tube, you have a few days left to do so. Go take a trip down the Bricktown Canal, and if you haven’t seen the Safari Lights at the OKC Zoo, I would try that out too,” said Craig.
