The new roof is currently being installed and the goal is to give back to military families who have given so much to our country.
Kayla Shade and her husband Joey have been dealing with roof issues for years but haven't had the time or money to get it fixed. Kayla is an Air Force veteran and Joey is currently serving in the Air Force.
“We had a desperate need for a new roof,” Kayla said. “Last winter, we had a roof leak during an ice storm, so this is much needed.”
It's all part of an effort to help strengthen the morale and well-being of those who have served or are currently serving our country.
Owens Corning partnered with local company Red River Roofing to provide this free roof.
So far, they've built hundreds of roofs for military families across the country.
And for the family here in Oklahoma, they say it's one less thing they have to worry about getting done.
"Our kids are special needs, so we have to take them to different appointments and therapies,” Joey said. “Between life and work and chores, it’s hard to find time to do stuff.”
Toby Chadrick, who works at Red River Roofing, said this is his favorite part of the job.
“I’ve been in this industry for 15 years,” Chadrick said. “And I really enjoy the opportunity to give back and help people that’s why we do what we do.”
