Norman Police Investigate After Student Discharged Firearm At Elementary School

A child reportedly discharged a firearm at a Norman elementary school, police said.

A child reportedly discharged a firearm at a Norman elementary school, police said.

The incident happened after school hours on Monday at Eisenhower Elementary School, 1415 Fairlawn Drive.

Officers quickly found the child and the weapon.

No one was injured in the incident. Investigators think the child was not intending to harm others and there was no evidence of an ongoing threat to students or faculty there.

The child was not identified.

Norman police is investigating the incident and will work with Norman Public Schools and the Cleveland County district attorney's office regarding the incident.
