Woman Killed In Drive-By Shooting At OKC Apartment, Police Say

Oklahoma City Police are investigating a deadly drive-by shooting from overnight. It happened outside an apartment complex on the Northwest side.

Police say around 12:30 a.m. Sunday they got a call of a shooting at this apartment near NW 36th and Meridian. One person says he and his girlfriend were at the complex last night when they heard several shots ring out.

They also heard a woman yelling, and when they went downstairs to check, they realized someone had been hit.

"She was just lying on the staircase," one man said. "She was gone by the time the paramedics got here."

Police say the victim was transported to a local hospital where she died. News 9 spoke to another neighbor who says she also heard the commotion.

"I remember hearing a car being really loud going down the street and then it was like 5 shots," said a neighbor. "I remember thinking that couldn't have been a backfire, that had to be gunshots."

Several people who live on this street say this isn't the first time they've heard gunfire in this area. They've also seen police called out there before.

"It's kind of concerning," said a neighbor. "I keep a big dog in the backyard."

Investigators believe this was a drive-by. No arrests have been made so far and officers say they don't have a suspect or vehicle description for now.

"Somebody's life was just taken literally not even 200 feet away from our front door," one man said.

The person killed has not been identified yet.
