Voters in Edmond approved a temporary sales tax Tuesday night to purchase land next to Hafer Park from private developers.
More than 80 percent of voters chose a quarter-cent tax increase for one year. The city expects that will generate about $5 million to purchase 22 acres south of the park and keep it from being commercially developed.
The land will be added to the city’s parks system.
