The driver involved in Friday morning’s hit-and-run investigation is cooperating with investigators, according to Trooper Eric Foster of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The body of Christopher Dunlap, 26, of Edmond was found beside S. Broadway, near Charter Oak Rd. in Guthrie.
Beforehand Dunlap was the passenger in a vehicle driven by his wife, according to OHP.
Foster said she told troopers that Dunlap jumped out of the car.
“The other person that was involved gave us the information that Mr. Dunlap exited the vehicle, and it seems right now, on his own accord. But that’s what we’re trying to determine,” Foster said. “It doesn’t appear that there was any malicious intent from any party involved at this time. Obviously, it’s preliminary in our investigation… Everybody involved that we’ve talked to is cooperating.”
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death after an autopsy.
Foster said it’s unclear if Dunlap was struck by a car after exiting his vehicle, or if he was hurt by jumping out of a moving car.
Anyone who was driving on S. Broadway, south of Charter Oak Rd. around 6:15 to 6:30 a.m. Friday morning is asked to contact OHP by calling *55.
“When we show up on a scene and there’s a fatality, and nothing else is there, I mean we have to go backward,” Foster said. “Any information is good information.”
