It's a packed house at Cain's Ballroom for Green Day's surprise warm-up concert ahead of their upcoming tour starting in Dallas on Saturday.

The tour was originally scheduled for last year but was postponed because of the pandemic and some fans waited in line for hours to see them perform. One fan from Minneapolis even drove through the night to make it to Tulsa.

"As a joke, I’m like let me see if I can get tickets because it’s hard to get into these club shows and I got a ticket,” said 18-year-old, Ryan Ramsey.

Ramsey says he's seen Green Day in person before, but this will be the closest he's ever been to his favorite band. Ramsey says he noticed their Instagram post a minute after they posted it and immediately bought a ticket to the show.

"I left at 7 and got here at 6:30 this morning. drove all night and now I'm here," said Ramsey.

Ramsey says he’s been a fan ever since he heard one of Green Day’s songs on the Transformers soundtrack when he was five. He even brought a sign, hoping the band would let him come up on stage to play the drums.

“Sometimes they let people on stage,” said Ramsey.

Tickets for the Tulsa concert sold out in about 30 minutes Monday morning after the band made the announcement. Just like Ramsey, Tulsa Green Day Fan, Jacob Finley, checked his Facebook at the right time Monday.

"Just so happened to be lucky because I know they went really quickly so I checked it and got two tickets," said Jacob Finley,

Green Day is heading on tour with Fall Out Boy, Weezer, and The Interrupters. The band is playing 23 concerts across the U.S. between now and September 18th then taking a break before heading overseas to continue their tour next year. Fans say it will be different to see them play in a smaller venue like Cain's.

"We went and saw them at the BOK like three years ago but it was a surprise, I knew they were going on tour but I didn't know they'd do something like this,” said Finley.

“It's not every day you get to see them at a place the size of this,” said Ramsey. “They're playing a baseball stadium tour, you're not going to see them at a place this small."

The band says because of the recent spike in the Delta variant, and because it's indoors, they required people to show their vaccine card to get in. Fans say it really didn't bother them to have to show their cards.
