The first of the 156 players in the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championships will tee off at 7:10 Thursday morning.

The destination this week for Southern Hills head pro Cary Cozby is the same as every other work week, but his job is a little different.

The 2016 PGA Professional of the Year isn’t managing the shop. Cozby, instead, is in the field.

The former OU standout is in on a special invitation from the PGA of America. Cozby was set to qualify for the event, but the day before, his father Jerry, also a PGA professional of the year and Oklahoma golf hall of famer, passed away last August.

Cozby later found the email inviting him to play this week. And he’ll do so, with his 13-year-old son Banks as his caddy.
