Gov. Kevin Stitt signed three anti-abortion bills including one that would allow physicians who perform an abortion to be charged with homicide.

Stitt signed House Bill 2441, House Bill 1102 and House Bill 1904.

The author of House Bill 2441, state Sen. Julie Daniels, said the bill deals with not performing an abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

House Bill 2441 said "no person shall perform or induce an abortion without first detecting whether or not her unborn child has a heartbeat. No person shall perform or induce an abortion upon a pregnant woman after such time as her unborn child has been determined to have a detectable heartbeat except if, in reasonable medical judgement, she has a condition that so complicates her medical condition that it necessitates the abortion of her pregnancy to prevent her death or to avert serious risk of substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily junction, not including psychological or emotional conditions."

House Bill 1102 would charge doctors with "unprofessional conduct" for performing an abortion unless necessary to prevent death of the mother. It does not include mental health as a reason.

House Bill 1904 would only allow OB/GYNs to perform abortions.
