Oklahoma City's Senior Day Center will take the first step toward reopening. It’s a step the center calls critical for at risk seniors after a year spent in isolation.

On Thursday, Senior Day Center teamed up with Valir Pace and Boomer Solutions pharmacy to host a drive-thru vaccination clinic.

The center says their goal is 100% vaccination for those they serve and hopes the clinic will help in welcoming back at risk seniors soon.

The center helps keep at risk, independently living elderly Oklahomans out of nursing homes by providing all inclusive care.

That care could mean meals, clinic visits, therapy or just socialization.

Prior to organizing the clinic, Valir Pace worked to find available locations and times. It was a coordination effort, the center says, that proved to be quite a challenge.

On Thursday, rides will be provided to and from the clinic for those who need them.

The pharmacy, Boomer Solutions received vials of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine which will be administered at the drive-thru clinic.
