It is estimated a little more than 14% of Oklahomans do not have health insurance. Last August, one Oklahoma man decided to what he could do to help with the problem.

John Nkurang is the administrator and founder of Amor Telehealth Center. It is a free clinic giving low-income families and those without health insurance access to doctors.

"Patients book appointments beforehand, because our providers are volunteers. They all of them, physicians and nurses they all volunteer their time and expertise, so they see these patients for free," Nkurang said.

With nurses on site and getting vitals and information from the patients, they set-up a virtual visit with the doctors all at no cost.

The entire set-up is currently operating out of Trinity OKC Church on NW 23rd, but Nkurang said he envisions bigger things to come.

"Our goal is to extend this to the rural areas, and we are opening our doors, we are reaching out to churches that are willing to open their door so that we can plant something like this at different churches," he said.

Nkurang is also reaching out to health care professionals to do what they can.

"So our goal is to reach to and expand to so many providers that are willing to provide at least an hour and see patients," he said.

At this point, the clinic is only open on Thursdays and Saturdays by appointment only.

Appointments can be made online at www.amortelehealth.org or by calling 405-528-6327 ext. 304
