Oklahoma City Police have identified an Alabama man who was allegedly shot and killed by his cousin at a downtown hotel Sunday.

According to authorities, around 2:30 a.m. officers responded to a shooting call at the Holiday Inn Express in Downtown OKC near Main Street and Mickey Mantel Drive.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, 48-year-old Mario Vines in a hallway at the hotel with apparent gunshot wounds. Vines was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Vine's cousin, 38-year-old Tarius Reed was taken into custody, police said.

Investigators believe the two got into some sort of altercation when Reed produced a pistol and shot and killed Vines.

The two men were in Oklahoma City for a few weeks for work, police said.

Reed was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint of murder in the first degree.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 405-297-1200.

This is a developing story.
