The City of Tulsa released the third installment of the Equality Indicators Report Thursday, a report intended to measure progress across various sectors to provide better equity and opportunity for Tulsans.

In 2020, the city scored 39.61 out of 100, up from the baseline score of 37.07 in 2018 and from the 2019 score of 38.22.

The Community Service Council and the Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity put together the report and to better understand it, the CSC launched an interactive website.

“The Equality Indicators Report continues to serve as a tool to track our progress across various sectors so we can work collectively to create a more equitable city,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said. “This report is part of our commitment to continue to realize the disparities that exist in Tulsa so we can create forward-thinking policies and programs that give every Tulsan an equal shot at a great life.”

The City will also host a learning series called Data for Action, aiming to improve community conversations about the themes and indicators and equip Tulsans to better use the report.

The report scores 54 indicators across six themes on a scale from 1 (full inequality) to 100 (full equality).

The six themes are Education, Services, Economic Opportunity, Public Health, Housing and Justice. In the 2020 report, Education, Services and Economic Opportunity improved from 2019, Public Health had no change from 2019, while Housing and Justice were scored lower than 2019.
