Tulsa Transit Offering Free Rides During Early Voting

Tulsa Transit will provide free rides during the early voting period in the county starting Thursday. A person interested just needs to be wearing an “I Voted” sticker.

Ted Rieck, Tulsa Transit, said he is thrilled to contribute to the early voting process and there are a number of routes that cross through downtown Tulsa.

The Tulsa League of Women Voters has partnered with Tulsa Transit to make this effort possible. The organization will contribute around $3,000 to help cover fees.

“We know there are reasons that people don’t make it to the polls and we wanted to remove that barrier here so the obvious thing that we came up with was transportation,” said Lynn Staggs, Tulsa League of Women Voters.

Patrons will have to pay the initial fee to ride the Transit but can travel for free with the sticker. Tulsa Transit will also provide shuttles from the Tulsa County Election Board to ONEOK Field on 20 minute intervals.

Early voting will take place at ONEOK Field on Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. To find a Transit route closest for you, visit the Tulsa Transit Website.
