There are no prohibitions against celebrating Halloween during the pandemic, but health experts said there are some things to be aware of while celebrating.

According to the Tulsa Health Department, Halloween celebrations will likely need to be different this season to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

They have released some guidelines they consider unsafe, which include participating in traditional trick-or-treating where treats are handed to children who go door to door.

Despite a pandemic, owner of Spotlight Magic and Costumes Sacheen Platten said they’ve gotten a surprising boost in sales this Halloween season.

“I think people have been cooped us so long that even if they come in for decorations, they are just trying to find a way to celebrate,” Platten said.

Just to be extra safe, Platten said they’ve been a little more careful to allow just anyone to try on a mask.

“Obviously, with COVIID, it means less sales for us, so we are just excited that September and October have been really good for us,” Platten said.

The Health Department also cautions against having trunk-or-treat where treats are handed out from trunks of cars lined up in large parking lots, attending crowded costume parties held indoors, and going to an indoor haunted house where people may be crowded together and screaming,
