After years of uncertainty about where the Oogolah-Talala soccer club could play and practice, a local church has stepped up and donated its land for many years to come.

The Oologah-Talala Soccer Club will now have a home at the Oologah Assembly of God for the next 25 years.

In its 60-year history, the club has always played and practiced on donated land.

"As the community has grown, and things have changed, those properties have started to adjust, neighborhood growth and so on and so forth," said club president Matt Penner.

Penner says as Oologah has seen more growth, the soccer club has seen more uncertainty about where they will play and practice.

"It brought a concern up to us many many years ago that we need to find a home that could be protected and make sure the club can stay healthy and continue to grow," he said.

But now, land at the Oologah Assembly of God will be turned into soccer fields.

"We wanted to touch our community and reach out beyond the walls of our church, and help facilitate growth of young athletes," said pastor Kent Jensen.

Pastor Kent Jensen says about a year ago he heard the club needed space, and now for at least the next 25 years they will have a home. He says it is a great feeling to give back to kids in the community.

"It's a great honor to be able to help the community with growth and help the soccer club and especially help young kids and their families," he said.

Penner says while the club was losing its fields, the number of kids interested in playing has grown. They now have around 150 members and says they are thankful they have a place to pay for the foreseeable future.

"It's everything for these kids in my opinion, faith, school, but exercise is critical for these kids and for us to provide an area for them to come out, run around, smile, for us its extremely important," he said.
