Tulsa celebrated its movie history on Wednesday in commemorating “Rumble Fish.”

A group of fans and some former crew members unveiled a plaque that recognizes the movie “Rumble Fish.”

The movie is based on the book by “Outsiders” author S.E. Hinton, who also wrote the screenplay. Both books were adapted into movies and filmed in Tulsa in the 80s.

October 21 is the 37th anniversary of the release of “Rumble Fish.”

Executive Director of the Outsiders House Museum Danny O'Connor revealed the plaque and shared some of his passion for the movie.

"At first it wasn't my go-to film and then I fell in love with it because I fell in love with Tulsa," O'Connor said. "Any film from back then where I can, you know, look around and see what Tulsa looked like in 1982 is a wonderful thing."

This isn't the only plaque honoring the work of S.E. Hinton. There's another one like it downtown in an alleyway near 5th and Main.
