Tulsa Police have arrested a man after they say he broke into a duplex while a family was asleep before hiding inside their closet.
Police said it was a little after 10 p.m. on Sunday night when they got a call for what the homeowners thought was a burglary.
According to TPD the residents who live in a duplex near 61st and Peoria were expecting their other roommate to get home late last night, so they left the door unlocked for him and went to bed. Officers said later in the night they heard a noise and yelled their roommate's name but got no answer.
The residents looked around the house and found a bag that was not theirs, leading them to call the police thinking someone had broken into their home.
When authorities arrived to investigate, they said they noticed a closet in the duplex was closed and it appeared that someone was holding the doors closed from the inside. That's when officers realized the suspect was still inside.
Police tried to get the suspect out of the closet but he refused. Officers said they had to use a launcher and pepper balls to shoot through the closet door and the suspect finally came out.
TPD has not released the suspect's name but he was arrested for 1st-degree burglary.
