Renovations are underway to the Elm Creek Park in Owasso. The city said this is the next chapter in upgrades to several parks.

The Elm Creek Park, located in the middle of an Owasso neighborhood, is closed until late winter or early spring for upgrades.

The city said the park’s pond will be stabilized to help with vegetation and stormwater collection. There will also be new playground equipment installed, more parking spots added, and a new pavilion will be built.

The city estimates the Elm Creek Park project to cost around $500,000.

“When we stabilize, we’re going to have to take out some trees, adjust some vegetation,” said Larry Langford, the City of Owasso’s Director of Recreation and Culture. “It’s going to be almost a renewal as the new trees come in, vegetation, beautification; it’s almost a rebirth of the park itself.”

This project comes after the completion of the Redbud Festival Park located on Main Street. Langford said finishing touches are coming to the Owasso Sports Park, which will include two new baseball fields.

After the Elm Creek Park project, the city said they will shift attention towards its Funtastic Island park. Langford said the current plan is to replace the entire playground with new equipment and install a splash pad.
