Oklahoma Charter School Board Meeting To Discuss Epic's Contract Tuesday

The Oklahoma Statewide Virtual Charter School Board will hold a meeting Tuesday afternoon that could terminate Epic Charter School's contract.

This comes one day after the State Board of Education said Epic must pay the state treasury $11.2 million after an audit found the district irresponsibly spent taxpayer dollars.

A 120-page audit, completed by the State Auditor, found little to no oversight from Epic's governing board. Besides money owed to the state, a key point in the audit noted that several Epic employees from Oklahoma were used to help start charter schools in California.

Epic Superintendent Bart Banfield said in a statement, they dispute some of the report's findings and want to fact-check the auditor.
