Man Arrested After Warr Acres Bar Fight Turns Deadly

One person was arrested after a bar fight turned deadly in Warr Acres. 

The fight broke out at the Route 66 Pub, police said. When officers arrived, they found 42-year-old Jason White unconscious on the ground.

Police responded just before 1 a.m. Friday to the bar near NW 39th and McArthur Boulevard. A witness told police a man had sucker punched White after he intervened in another argument at the bar.

“There was an altercation between our suspect and another patron that was sexual in nature, which led up to our victim intervening between those two,” said Major John Gray with Warr Acres police.

That's when witnesses said a fight broke out between White and 26-year-old Verde Bailey. 

When paramedics got to the scene, they said White was no longer breathing. He was taken to OU Medical where he later died.

“I watched my dad’s face turn purple, I watched the monitor of his heartbeat go from 103 to 0,” said Marlene White, the victim's daughter.

Marlene White said she received multiple calls during the night the incident happened. She found out the next morning and couldn't believe it.

“Really devastated, in my head I thought my dad is gone, he's dead,” said Marlene White.

Police were able to track down Bailey later that day at his home near NW 50th and Rockwell Avenue in Bethany. He was taken into custody and booked into the Oklahoma County jail on a complaint of second degree murder and sexual battery. 

Marlene White started a GoFundMe for medical expenses, and she said her dad was kind to everyone.

“A very caring, honest type of person, he loved to help people,” said Marlene White.
