Dozens of people are waiting on their packages after a delivery driver dumped the boxes near Collinsville, according to investigators.

Collinsville police said investigators are trying to figure why the packages were dumped. Police said FedEx and KTB Transport, Inc. are working to get customers their packages.

Collinsville Assistant City Manager Craig Stokes said his street department crews found about 40 packages Thursday morning at the former landfill north of the city.

"They just happened to be hauling out some brush this morning to dump it, and that's when they saw the packages," said Stokes.

Stokes praised his crews for calling Collinsville Police and even helping bring the packages to the department.

Detective Josh Ray said the packages were sent through FedEx, which contracts with KTB Transport, Inc. based in Tulsa, as the delivery service.

"Once we figure out what the motive is, we'll be able to figure out what crime's actually been committed," said Ray.

Meanwhile, a mother and son said they were shocked to see at least 20 packages dumped Tuesday afternoon.

They said a man in a FedEx uniform came to pick up the packages that were left in a back road near Highway 20 and Memorial in Tulsa County.

"We're trying to determine if that is related to this incident, but there are definitely similarities between the two," said Ray.

The delivery mess has impacted people and businesses, such as The Hidden Porch Event Center in Catoosa.

Owner Candace Townsend said the $800 swing for her business was scheduled to be delivered Tuesday, but it arrived Wednesday with an apology.

"Our driver decided to dump 10 packages in a field, and it was left overnight," said Townsend, recapping her conversation with the employee.

Townsend said she's grateful for all the teamwork it took to get her package.

"I made a statement, 'I hope the person is no longer working there and is fired,' and the person who delivered said, 'Oh yeah, without a doubt,'" Townsend said.

Ray said police believe only one driver was involved in the dumping of the packages, and his name has not been released since no arrests have been made.

FedEx responded to News On 6’s inquiry about the investigation with the following statement:

“The security of our customers’ shipments is a top priority, and we are committed to treating our customers’ packages with the utmost care. We are conducting a thorough review of this situation and will take any action that is appropriate.”
