Tulsa Public Schools will hold a special board meeting Monday to discuss how they can continue to support students and families during distance learning.

The board also plans to discuss Superintendent Dr. Deborah Gist's contract, which could mean a possible one-year extension into 2024. The board will meet in an executive session before publicly stating their decision regarding Dr. Gist, whose contract was extended just a few months ago before the election brought two new members to the board.

Some viewed the move as one that protected Dr. Gist from a board that could be split on whether to keep her.

However, the board does not have to act right now as Dr. Gist's current contract runs through July of 2023.

The board will meet virtually at 4 p.m.
