Tulsa’s Botanic Gardens plan to add a new water garden to the grounds. The new water garden will be right behind the visitor's center and officials with the Botanic Gardens said the new garden couldn't have come at a better time.

“It’ll be a tranquil place because of all the running water that runs down into it and the sounds of it," said Pat Woodrum.

Woodrum is Tulsa Botanic Garden's Interim Director and said the plans for the new garden have been in the works for several years.

“It’s going to be a very unusual garden because it’s a water garden, and it will add to what we have here; we are so grateful to Mary Ann and John Bumgarner for contributing the generous contribution that they have to allow us to construct this garden," said Woodrum.

The new water garden will be just under an acre and will feature flowers around the edge of the water.

"Lotus flowers of course floating in the pool and there will be other types of things that will grow in water and then around the edges will be iris and hibiscus," said Woodrum.

A local landscape designer is working with another landscape designer from Florida that has worked on projects at the garden’s previously. The water garden is just under an acre so you should have plenty of room to yourself. “Particularly at this time people want a place of tranquility and to be close to nature," said Woodrum.
