A group of New Yorkers came to Tulsa, beginning their week with work and ending with wedding vows.

The bride said the couple could have tied the knot in the Big Apple. However, due to courthouses closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, were instead wed in Green Country.

Newlyweds Perla and Adam Piergallini said they made many memories and the most unexpected new friendships on their journey.

The couple arrived at the Tulsa County Courthouse. In under two hours, they planned a wedding and sent out Zoom invitations 30 minutes before the ceremony.

"A lot of women put a lot of time and energy [into] planning their weddings, and then it becomes really more about the planning and the things instead of what you're really there to do, which is celebrate your love," Perla Piergallini said.

Nicholas Coady is a friend of the bride and groom.

"You do what you can,” Coady said. “When it's true love, you have to play your part."

The wedding party set out to find a venue and landed on the Tulsa Rose Garden. Outfits for the wedding were found at Dillard’s.

An employee at the store happened to be a deacon, giving Coady advice and earning an invite to the wedding as witness No. 2.

“It was just one of those rare things where you meet people and you just kind of click,” second witness Doug Hartson said. “I'm just really happy I was able to be a part of it and thrilled and honored that I was invited to do so."

Witness number one, Michael Mintz, is the reason they landed in Tulsa. Mintz also served as the wedding planner, emcee and best man.

"I was a flower girl, by the way, and the ring bearer,” Mintz said. “I was the flower girl. We needed one. I practiced just lofting them in the air. It was perfect."

The wedding party said there were some mishaps along the way such as temporarily losing the vows written on a napkin and technology issues, but everything came together when necessary.

Their Uber driver, Miles, pulled up the alter and played classical music. Their server at the dinner reception was also the photographer.

"I basically said, ‘Every morning when I wake up and I do this wrong, I spill this,’ I said, ‘As long as you wake up with me every time,’" Adam Piergallini said.
