The Craig County District Attorney cleared an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper involved in a deadly shooting in June.

OHP released dash cam video of Trooper Caleb Cole shooting Robert Harris after they said Harris reached for a gun during a traffic stop near Vinita.

DA Mat Ballard said that after reviewing evidence and talking to a witness, he said the shooting was legally justified.

The DA said after Trooper Cole pulled the car over along the Will Rogers Turnpike, he smelled marijuana. The DA said Cole asked Harris to get out of the car and asked him to put down what was in his hands. The DA said that's when Harris sat back down in the car and reached behind his back. The DA said Trooper Cole asked Harris to show his hands but Cole said he saw Harris pulling out a gun so the Trooper fired.

The DA said the woman who was driving the car told investigators she felt the Trooper did nothing wrong.

It is News On 6’s policy not to show the actual shooting or release raw video of a fatal shooting.
