"When you're wrong, admit it, when you're right, shut up."

Just one of the secrets to a nearly 80-year marriage, according to Virgil Fussell. He and his wife Millie celebrated their 78th anniversary last month.

You can't be married for 78 years without a few disagreements, and Millie says, well, she's never thought about divorce.

"But murder, several times," Millie said jokingly.

Ninety-nine-year-old Virgil and 95-year-old Millie take their health very seriously.

Both exercise regularly and live a very active lifestyle at Golden Oaks Village in Enid.

Both still drive and Virgil is an avid golfer. He started when he was 92.

"First year I got a hole in one," Virgil said. "My instructor had 50 something years and didn't have a hole in one and was pretty aggravated. The third year I got another hole in one, and he was in the hospital and I didn't tell him."

Virgil and Millie both grew up around rural Mooreland, Oklahoma.

They've known each other for as long as they can remember.

Virgil served in the army during World War II. Millie was a Rosie the Riveter, working on B-29 bombers in Wichita.

"Hey, I drove every one of them rivets, knowing if I didn't do it right, it might cost some soldier his life," Millie said.

Virgil didn't fly planes in World War II, but learned to when he was in his 60's.

Virgil will turn 100 in May. He said he wants to celebrate by flying a motor glider, with an instructor present, of course.
